Tiliqua is an open hardware development platform, DSP library and collection of examples (built in Amaranth HDL) that aims to make FPGA-based audio and video synthesis more accessible. The hardware is designed to integrate into the Eurorack ecosystem, or can be easily taken apart and used in custom instrument designs.
This talk will touch on subjects like:
- How to build on Tiliqua's hardware and DSP libraries
- How one efficiently shares DSP tiles and FPGA resources between different audio blocks
- How one can talk to USB MIDI devices without a CPU
- And some war stories shipping electronics from Germany
The project is distributed under CERN-OHL-S-V2 and is under active development @ https://github.com/apfaudio/tiliqua
Sebastian is most comfortable right at the hardware/software boundary. Deep in the embedded space for most of his career, he has worked on space avionics, autonomous vehicles, open-source OS kernels and everything in-between.
In his free time, Sebastian enjoys making electronic music using contraptions and synthesizers of his own creation. This eventually drove him to start apf.audio, a tiny 1-man company building open-source musical instruments.
